A Loving Marriage - Can You Learn How to Have One
There are actually learning important skills to the quality of the relationship? Some people think that depends on how flexible or easy to go to the spouse. For example, to Tanis When he said: "My husband, James, rigid, narrow-minded, and never talk to me. How can I learn how to better husband? It seems that cancer each other all the time. It seems that he is always angry me. finally decided to just live with it, but that marriage is just not what I expected. "In his speech trailed off as she looked out the window and sat in my office away from James.
It is true that some marriages can not be saved, the "un-saveable" special cases, such as the constant physical abuse or chronic alcoholism / drug abuse. But even in some special cases, such a thing could be beneficial for learning skills. I do not want to discount other important aspects of marriage such as love and affection, respect, or positive tone of the household. But the love and affection alone can not save a relationship that is falling apart.
The therapist who specializes in marriage / relationship counseling, I meet the couple to help them sort through the pain, criticism, defense, and sometimes even contempt, to create the relationship you always wanted. One of the very basic parts of a marriage or relationship counseling is to help the couple to learn new tools.
According to dr. John and Julie Gottman, who studied the successful marriage of 30 years at the University of Washington in Seattle, a lot of skills that improve your marriage. I teach them to couples in therapy, and a great success. You do not need to change your basic personality, or are satisfied that the partner thinks it should.
One of the skills that I find it a great help, as some work to find the marriage you always want the concept of the emotional bank account. This is how you do it. I try to useful, beautiful and thoughtful thing for your partner. They do not have great things to you. It can be as simple as a little note (in a positive, loving message) to the mirror for your partner that morning. You may offer to open a door or the next diaper change, even if it is not your turn. Once you do this, you will begin to build a positive emotional bank account.
